During her October 2018 residency with Akron Soul Train, Charisse will explore the evolution & complexities of soul food. She will replicate a 1:12 scale series of mixed media sculptures based on food memories. Charisse aims to draw out meaning in what we eat, illustrate how food habits change for everyone, and consider soul food’s place in the greater American food discourse.
